I devote myself to
programming/studying/repairing/configuring computers and
computing systems in general.
I can speak spanish,
english and a little bit of french (I'm lacking some practice in
that).
I live at Mexico and I'm specializes in
GNU/Linux operating system. I'm also a programmer and systems
consultant. I know how to build systems using different
paradigms, and programming in Python, PHP, Java (including JSPs,
JSFs, Spring, Hibernate), C/C++, etc; in databases matter, I
have worked on Oracle PL/SQL, MySQL, Sybase and PostgreSQL. For
more information about me, you can take a look at
my
webpage (in
spanish, greatly)
This site is hosted on a Toshiba Satellite A215 laptop
w/AMD64 at home, running ArchLinux
Since the server is a
laptop, sometimes the server isn't active, but I try to keep it
that way the most part of the time.
What services does invernalia.homelinux.net offers?
At this moment, I have setup the following services:
- HTTP via Apache (includes PHP, Perl, Python)
(if you are reading this, then you are there)
- Git to version control my projects
- phpMyAdmin
to manage MySQL databases
- Site statistics
with W3Perl
- FTP
- Secure HTTP using SSL at port 8008 (try
it here)
- Postfix as mail server
- remote login via SSH
- VNC for remote desktop control
- OpenVPN using SSL to setup a simple VPN with the machines from
my job, home and relatives
Speaking of HTTP server, I host the following projects:
At the FTP server, I now only maintain a directory
hosting Windows executable files, of programs I use, of free
software for that operating system, and a directory with some
files I share.
Why 'invernalia'?
George R.R. Martin is a United States author, who has wrote the
books from the 'Song of Ice and Fire' series: A Game of Thrones, A Clash of
Kings, A Storm of Swords, A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons. Its
about epic fantasy, and IMHO, very well developed, located at the Seven
Kingdoms of Westeros. Among a lot of things, one of their main features
is the way the novels are written: each chapter is done from the point
of view of a concrete character.
And one of those kingdoms, Winterfell (Invernalia) is the land of one of
my favorite characters: the Stark's.
